How drastic of a difference in low light situations is there between a 10x32 and a 10x42 if both are of top quality?

Apparently not much. It seems it depends more on your eye's pupil and how it matches the exit pupil of the binocular. If you pupil is not dilated more than 3.2mm, both would be roughly the same.
