Hi there,
I've just come in from looking at about 40 waxwings and have decided that I do need to invest in some proper bins this year.
I'm fairly sure that 8x32's will suit my needs but question of all questions is ...which one??!
The EL swaro's are obviously great but forking out that sort of money is a bit daunting at the moment, not that I won't mind you. What do you think about the Nikon's 8x32 SE/HG or even the habicht 8x30's - kind of like the traditional look of them.
Any advice from you guys would be much appreciated.
Regards
Sollas
The Nikon 8 x 32 SE has Porro Prism (traditional?) construction. Many experts say that it has optics that are unsurpassed! I have one, and it is my primary binocular. It is outstanding in all respects. I also have the Nikon 8 x 32 LX L. It is the same binocular as the European version known as the HG L. It is a Roof Prism. It is also a remarkably good binocular and it is water proof unlike the SE. Try them both and see which one you like best. You may be able to get them at good prices if you look around. The SE is rumored to be soon discontinued, and the HG upgraded. Assuming the world economy makes it feasible.

I understand the porro v roof bit. I think the economy thing will impact on everyone's decision. Spending over a £1000.00 on a bin is arguably a wild thought at the moment.
