8x32 or 8x42 for woodlands?

I'm 17 and have about $150 to spend and was looking at some Eagle binos. If I'm primarily using them in woodlands should I go for the smaller x32 or the larger x42? and any suggestions on binocs for that price range? Thanks for any help.

Either one should be satisfactory. The 32's are lighter and easier to carry around and usually have a wider FOV. The 42's will be brighter in your woodland scenario. The important thing is to make sure you carefully vet them out before you buy them. In your price range, Roof Prism binoculars can have quality control problems. You will find that 8 x 40 Porro Prism binoculars will be much better optically in your price range than roof prism's will be. Nikon makes very good Porro's at that price.

Good birding,
Bob

I like the lighter weight and more compact nature of the 32mm bins - I don't have any experience of Eagle binoculars, but I would definitely try them out alongside Nikons as the latter have such a good name and a high level of quality control.
