Cameras and Lenses

A novice seeking guidance.

Hi everyone.

I'm trying to decide on a better pair of binoculars within a mid-low price range. I like what I read of the Hawke Frontier Ed 8x43s, the Bushnell Legends and have been advised to check out the Pentax 9x42s. Can anyone give this novice a bit of a steer please by helping me to appreciate similarities and differences between these bins? Many thanks.

Mezzer,

Welcome to the forum.

I've not seen the Pentax so can't comment on those. I've tried the Hawke several times and the Bushnell a couple and I'm sure you would be happy with either. Both have wide views and sharp optics, but you really should try them for yourself. There are a couple of things about both pairs that you may like, dislike or not notice at all. For instance I find the focus on the Hawkes is a bit slow for my tastes and it's slightly longer than some. The Bushnell is a chunkier design, might just have the edge on contrast, but a couple of people have noted more edge distortion. I personally think at £250 the Hawke has the edge on value, but you need to figure out which suits you better.

Many thanks for your advice. I need to find a supplier where I can hopefully try them side by side.
