Action EX and Activa WP

At this price point, which has the edge. The Nikons are heavy and don't focus all that close, whereas the Minoltas aren't and do. Whereas for Nikon the Action EX is a lower middle range product the Activa WP is at the top of Konica Minolta's porro. I am thinking the Minoltas represent the better bargain unless Nikon;s image remarkably better, though I have read the Action EX is about what would be expected optically for the outlay.

Has anyone had a look at Minolta's multicoatings? The only Minolta product I have on hand is an old SLR with an MD lens.

Robert,

The Nikon Action EX has been rated as very good binoculars at the Cloudy nights forum. I have personally tried both the Nikon Action EX and Minolta Activa WP FP but have not compared them side by side. I want to say that both these models are very sharp and a good value for the money. Both have large FOV, but if you wear eyeglasses the Minoltas are better, I was not satisfied with the Nikons in this aspect, they don't offer complete full FOV with glasses on, but the Minoltas do (all except the 12x50 model).

Regards, Patric

Tack Patric. Do you remember the Minolta being a tad bit more compact for a given configuration?
