advice for binoculars needed

Hello,

I'm looking for a new pair of 10x42 binoculars. I don't wanna spend more than 600, 700 euros. Browsing through the internet I found these two models very interesting:

Bushnell Elite (not E2) 10x42mm
Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 10x42

Which do you think it's the best in performance and comfort?

Are there any other bins I may take into consideration?

Thanks in advance.
Alex

I have owned both at one time or another. I loved the handling and styling of the Elite. Accessories were excellent as well. The image quality was above average for its time but, sadly, I never could see to get as much detail out of the image as I would like. I have tried a few units since then and came to the conclusion that I must have had a subpar unit.

The Legend Ultra is not as impressive physically but still more than satisfactory ergonomically. The image provided excellent detail and very good color saturation because of the ED glass in the objectives. The field of view is wider than the Elite but the edges were slightly more out of focus (don't remember but probably either field curvature or astigmatism).

I believe the Ultra can be found for as low as $229 US after a rebate currently. The cheapest I have seen for the Elite was around $450.

Hope this helps.

Do you have to have a roof prism for waterproofness? How about a Nikon 10x35 EII. Blow both of your choices in the weeds when it comes to optics and can be had for about $300.00 to $400.00 US.
