Advice Please

I am buying a gift for a member of my family and need some advise on waterproof binoculars i have found some nitrogen filled vivitar binoculars which i think are a good deal at a good price http://www.dealtastic.co.uk/aqua-wa...binoculars.html please could someone let me know. Awaiting your feedback. Also they have spotting scopes which would he prefer as a gift?

Excuse the advice from a relative bino newbie but I'm willing to bet those binoculars are fairly mediocre optically. Saying that, I cant think of anything better that are also waterproof for the same price. What I can say is that for about £ 40 - £ 70, (I got mine for £38.50 from Amazon) you can get some Celestron Nature 8x30 porros, they are supposedly waterproof and fogproof ( though I havent used them In the rain yet) and will be light years ahead of the Vivitars optically.
Apparently there are some quality control issues, so buy from somewhere with a good return policy, but my ones are just phenomenal for the price , possibly sharper and more contrasty than my Zen ray ED 2's ( these in turn have been compared to roof prism binoculars costing £1000 or more) and way better than a whole host of other far more expensive binos I've owned or tried.
Don't let the 8 x magnification rather than 10 x put you off either, in my experience you can see a whole lot more detail whatever the distance with a good 7 or 8 x compared to a bad 10 x.
Good luck :)
