Have a look here:

That binocular looks quite interesting - mechanical stabilizer like the Zeiss 20x60S, but somewhat lighter (and, of course, cheaper). As far as I know only ZOMZ in Russia made such binoculars in the past, a 16x50 and a 20x50, but these look quite different from the bin offered by Magnar.
I still believe this 20x50 is made in Russia, probably also by ZOMZ. This may well be a new model, possibly for use by the military. Some of the claims on the website sound a bit exaggerated of course, but any binocular with a mechanical stabilizer is interesting.
Maybe there is someone near Pleasant Hill/CA who can check them out.

Looks interesting, indeed, thanks Hermann for posting this.
From what I've seen on the youtube-video where a man is using one on a pistol shooting range, and from the pics in the ad, it looks like an IF binocular, not a CF binocular.
It's boasted to have the best quality resolution image stabilization, I'd be interested to know if it's indeed better than my Canon 18x50 IS in this respect.
FOV is 56m/1000m, AFOV 64*. Weighs 1245 grams, slightly more than the Canon 18x50 IS. Uses no batteries, which is good, mechanical stabilization.
I did a Google search but other than the shooting range video I found no testing or using of the Magnar. I'd really like to see these Magnar 20x50's tested against other image stabilized binoculars with similar magnification, and done by a reputable test squad.
Price is a little steep, though: $ 2,499.99, that's well above the price of a big Canon.
But you'd need not buy batteries, of course.
I wonder how the stabilization mode is on these things. For birding especially. These Magnars might be more suited for military use.
Still an intriguing new thing...
Best regards,
Ronald
