hey guys,
I shoot 3D archery which can be in dark timber cover at 50 yards and Ive got a set of 8x25 bushnell permafocus porros which have been great but Id like to go to a full size pair of bins now.
The targets are full sized rubber animals with fine rings where the kill zones are. These can be very hard to see in low light conditions.
options Ive been looking at are
Vortex diamondback 8x42mm
Vortex vulture 8.5x50mm
Bushnell excursion 8x42mm
Nikon monarch 8x42mm
Nikon monarch 8.5x56mm
Alpen apex 8x42mm
as far as i can gather.. their specs are much of muchness and their all within a hundred bucks of each other.
I like the size of the 8x42mm but I might put up with the 50mm extra weight and size if their light gathering is that much better.
anyone have opinions or suggestions?
Welcome to BirdForum, The new[lighter wt. one] Bushnell 8x42 legend would be a good choice for this.:-)

Looks all pretty good
Nikon monarch 8x42mm
Nikon monarch 8.5x56mm
Not much difference there, one is heavier and bulkier, 8.5x does not really offer much over 8x. There are some 8x50 binoculars. I don't use them as it is more than 500 dollars for a bin I would almost never use.
