best 8x32 binoculars that are not alpha priced (UK)

A friend of mine lost her binoculars and therefore need a new pair. She would like 8x32 but cannot afford to go back to Swarowski; what is the best imitator at half the price?

thanks
Niels

Hi Neils,

The Meopta 8x32s have gotten some good reviews here. I might take a look at the new Vortex Viper 8x32s as well. I'm sure others will have additional suggestions.

Best,
Jim

Does she need waterproof roofs? If not, the Nikon EII 8x30 are top-class (IMHO the absolute best optics), alpha glass for about 350 sterling. Beautiful binos, check out the reviews, very hard to get but still available at Clifton Cameras (with whom I have no connection other than that I bought a pair from them last year).

If she wants alpha waterproof roofs, the Zen Ray ED are top-notch at about 250 sterling, I think. I recently swapped a travelscope for one of the Zen-Ray ED2 7x36 and I am frankly stunned. (There is an 8x version). Again, check the reviews. These must be ordered direct from Zen-Ray in Oregon, USA, AFAIK, but their customer service and delivery is top-notch.
