Best bins below £250

Hi all,
Some time during the coming year, I'm hoping to buy some new binoculars, preferably roof prism, light, and if possible, waterproof. I am unable to spend more than about £250 on them, and would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions about the best within that price range.

I'm paticularly interested in comments about the Avian 8x32/42, which would be ideal.

Thanks,

Jyothi

I've been birding for 15 years, and I have had four or five pairs of bino's as I've never had a lot of money to blow on optics was in a similar dilemma. Last year I bought a pair of opticron HR 8x42's Iand I have to say I have been delighted with there perfomrance. Optically they perform very well even i low light, and the image is sharp even in porr conditions. They feel nice (!) and are relatively light. I somtimes were glaases and notice no dip in performance. I must admit I use my scope much less these days.

Budget wise I am sure they would fit in for you.

Other people I know recommed the swift range, but I personally have never been blown away by there performance and found them heavy.

I'd get down to an in field show and see what you prefer. Horses for courses as they say....
