Best buy in the 2-800 US$ range 8x3x

Hi, one of my friends want a pair of binoculars in the not too large size range, which I have translated to 8x30 or so. These will reside in a humid tropical area, and I think that they should have a high enough eye-relief for wearers of glasses/spectacles. I know the high end brands, but in the intermediate end, is there something in particular to recommend? I have taken the Eagle Optics web page www.eagleoptics.com as starting point, they will be visiting Chicago around christmas and have only 2½ hour to the store if they dont choose to buy online.

Anyone have experiences with brands like Alpen Apex, Bushnell legend, Celestron Noble, Leupold, Minox, Nikon Premier, Pentax DCF, Steiner, especially as compared with Leica Trinovid and Swarowsky EL (the two brands I know best)?

thanks
Niels

The Nikon 8 x 32 LXL is a compact, rugged, waterproof binocular with long eye relief, a wide FOV and outstanding Optics. It weighs 24 Oz and has unusually fast focusing--closeup to infinity in 360 degrees. It usually sells for $850.00 US.

Better still, if you can get your hands on the now discontinued and fast disappearing Leica 7 x 42 BN Trinovid do so without hesitation. They are selling for about $900.00. There is also a discount on the Leica 8 x 32 BN Trinovid at Cabelas but that will cost about $1200.00.
