Hi, I'm relatively new to using binoculars and was wondering which range was best to use for short distances. It's only about 4-5 metres from my window to where the birds are in my garden and I'm finding it hard to get the binos I have to focus. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, I'm wondering a similar thing.
I've started watching dragonflies, many of which rest happily only 4feet away, which is too close for my current binoculars to focus.
Any suggestions welcome,
Hal2
Most modern binoculars should be able to focus at distances down to around 3-4m ... I believe a couple (Brunton Epoch and the new Zeiss FL) can manage just below 2.5m, closer than that you're not going to have much success with binos.
