Well, beware.
Sunscreen leaves white spots on plastic and rubber, and it looks like the spots are there to stay.
DEET repellent disolves plastic and rubber (they become crumbly). DEET also eats through lens coatings.
We had a bottle of sunscreen and one of DEET leak (left backpack in the sun in the car, it got hot) on top of my daughter's Pentax. The rubber is falling appart and the lenses have white stains instead of coatings.
Luca,
sorry to hear it.
Has anyone tried the chemical alternatives to DEET? What are they called? Picardin? Permuthen? something like that. Do they damage equipment or present the health hazard that DEET does? Are they as effective?
I tend to simply avoid DEET. Prefer to wear long loose clothes and a hat. Not entirely effective, but I am happier than with DEET.

I think Pentax covers all their sports optics products with a NO-FAULT warranty..they probably would give your daughter a new pair if she sends the damaged ones to them.....we hope!!
