Hi all,
I recently bought a pair of cheap (talking AUD $25) compact binoculars to leave in my work car in case any birds of interest cross my path while I’m out and about. I do a lot of driving on poor roads, really bumpy and corrugated, and I think this may have knocked the optics out of place which has left my bins with double vision, and something that feels loose in the binocular housing.
They were rubbish bins (no pun intended) in the first place, and I’ll take them back to the store on principle, but I was thinking of upgrading to probably a pair of Nikon Sprint 8x21’s (still relatively cheap, but less so). But now I’m petrified of having them in the car in case they suffer the same fate as my old ones. I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues with bins (of any quality) in the car and any solutions, or had any thoughts on either sticking with rubbish bins in the car (so, if they break, the loss isn’t so much) or hoping the better quality bins will hold up to the rough treatment?
Any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome,
Cheers.
I have some pairs of roof prisms in the car all year, even 100F temperatures. Glued parts do not like this, but they have survived. Mine are 8x28 and 8x32. I also have a pair of 8x25 Bushnells that have lived in my bike bag for 5 years.
I wish I could help with this one but I take bins out of the car if I know I am going to be away from it for an extended period of time. If you typically stick them under your car seat or in your glove box for storage then you might consider throwing them on the backseat with a jacket or something over them to deter theft.
Just a thought.
