Anyone been to that area before, really looking forward to visiting the Osprey centre at Loch Garten. We will be there in early July for 2 weeks.
While I am on the subject, I am complete novice when it comes to bird watching etc so I really need to get a good set of binoculars and a decent camera.
I currently have a pretty standard 10x50 binoculars and a Canon Ixus digital camera, the binoculars are quite heavy and the camera is more for taking holiday snaps.
Now I don't want to break the bank but could you guys point me in the right direction as to what I should be looking at?

10x42 and 8x32 should about cover it, both available in Bushnell Excursion, 10x42 also in Legend. These are minimal supplies. You did not say what amount you wanted to spend. Good binoculars in Pentax, Vortex etc at under 1000 in dollars. Also see threads here on cheaper ED glass, Hawke, or UK equivalent.
