I just ordered a set of the Bushnell Elite 8x43 from Amazon for only $456. How do these Binoculars compare to the Promaster and Hawke ED Binoculars at this price? The seemed like a great price at $456, I'm just not sure if I should go with something else?
Looks like you and I got the cheap Elite's.
I should be getting a Promaster from Frank (and the Elite) by the end of next week so I'll write up a comparison of the two.
Frank also owned a Bushnell Elite a couple of years back for a week or two. So he might be able to make a "memory" comparision between the two.
Although it's very possible (most likely, in fact) that the Promaster is a better bin I do like light full-size bins and at this price it was a steal. I would probably never buy a top end Bushnell any other way.
I do have a second hand Bushnell Discovery 7x42 and as I rather like that one I thought the Elite might be a good bet too. It's heavier (28oz), closed hinge and perhaps has slightly older coatings.
They have one left now at $842.15 so I think we win either way

though Eagle Optics have the newer model for $780.
They seemed like a good deal at $457. Let me know what you think of the Promaster, at least we can send them back to Amazon pretty easily. I should have my Bushnell Elites on Monday.
