Hi
I have been interested in birds for a while (loads of feeders in the garden etc) but recently hace decided to try taking it a bit more seriously. I have some really cheap Praktika pocket zoom bino's but they are dark and quite hard to focus. Most of the reviews I have looked at on this site seem to be recommening equipment that is over £200 and I am afraid at them moment that's out of the question as I also want to get a pair for my son (age 9). So I guess the question is are the pairs I have seen on offer on places like Wharehouseexpress going to be OK for general birdwatching or a huge disappointment ? I was thinking of something like the Bauch and Lomb Legacy Porro Prisms 8x40 or the Nikon 7x35 Actions for my son.
Thanks
Pat

welcome to the forum Pat
get your son to try some first BUT Nikon Sporters 8x36 £99 a bargain from w/express.
I'd say both the Bauch and Lomb Legacy Porro Prisms 8x40 or the Nikon 7x35 Actions from Warehouse Express would be fine for your son. Enthusiasm and interest in the subject are much more important than the fine differences between binoculars, especially when you're starting out.
Nikon 8x36 Sporters are also a great bargain, but a bit more expensive.
Happy birding !
