I think the descriptions of color when people describe a particular glass are interesting.
I understand the color cast idea. and cold vs warm. But the idea of some glass showing "rich" or "vibrant".... what ever happened to "accurate"? I have not tried many binos over the last few years. Are manufacturers playing with coatings so colors are punched up?

Absolutely.
I remember a discussion on here several years ago about two high end manufacturers and their choice of contrast/color representation with their products. One manufacturer chose to use an approach that utilized more natural color representation which, inadvertantly, did not provide as well saturated colors. The other chose coatings that provided excellent color saturation but that saturation wasn't necessarily as natural.
This can be quite confusing with the terminology though. Many times I have found that color representation and color saturation can be linked. For example, those Sightrons I posted above have very saturated colors...especially with objects that exhibit colors in the red and brown areas of the spectrum. They also have a warm color bias in roughlty the same area of the spectrum. The ZR ED3s that I have compared them to do not have as saturated colors across the entire spectrum but they do have a much more neutral color bias to the overall image.
