Yes the Bushnell 7 x 26 Custom Classic reverse Porros are still available. They formerly carried the Bausch & Lomb name, and those are no longer available. A new series of serial numbers has been started under the Bushnell name. I got mine shortly after the name change took place, and the serial number is VERY low!! I understand that they have been improved also but in what manner I cannot say. Anyway, I can state confidently that they are a remarkably good binocular: Bright, very sharp, nice wide FOV of 363' and ER of 15 mm. They are also compact and very solidly constructed. They will fit easily in a jacket pocket and in a large pleated shirt pocket yet are not too small to have difficulty in finding the correct IPD like one often has with a doublehinged mini binocular.
As to your question on the Tasco's, I have one of my own. What are open hinges?
Good birding,
Bob
