Eagle Optics 2.5X extender?

Has anyone here had any experience with Eagle Optics' 2.5X Universal Extender. I have been considering getting one for use with my Pentax DCF WP, but I wanted to see if there were any opinions about this unit first.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I purchased one about 1.5 years years ago, thinking it would be great. The quality is fine and it fits OK on my NIkon Monarch 8 X 42. I thought it would be great for hiking or when I didn't want to get out my scope.

I have not used it in over a year. The problem is the shaking. The extender brings the magnification to 20-power, and at that amount the shaking is so bad I can not see anything, even when I rest the binoculars on the hood of my car. It would probably be OK if you used it with a tripod, but if I was going to get out my tripod anyway, I am would use my scope. If I had it to do over, I would not have purchased it, even though it is inexpensive.

Good luck with your decision.

Lew

Yes, as far as this type of thing goes, the EO unit is of top quiality. The problem is these things are not as useful as they seem. Without a tripod you really need to find something to prop them on, and if you carry a tripod, well, that defeats the purpose. One way around this is if you already habitually carry a walking stick, which makes a good monopod prop.
