My five year old wants a pair of bins for his birthday. As he's the only one of my kids to show any interest in birding I'm keen to comply. Any views on a reasonably priced pair of bins for (very) small hands?
Thanks in advance
Nick

The only problem is the interpupillary distance - the space between the eyes. Most binocualrs are made for adult viewing and the eyepieces will be too far apart.
I would think a good buy might be the Nikon Travelite V 9x25 which are being sold for a bargain £49-99 by Warehouse Express. If they don't suit, they can easily be returned for a full refund. The only difficulty would be holding them steady (a problem with all binoculars for a child).
Another option, with a lower magnification and hence easier to hold still, are the Opticron Savanna 8x23 LE Gift Set at £79-00. The Savanna Compact LE, too, seem possible as does the Bushnell Off Trail.
