Glove compartment binoculars?

I bought a couple of old, cheap pairs of binoculars on eBay:

1: 8x30 porros, lightweight, good resolution, not so good against the light, a bit lacking in contrast at times, 8° FOV.

2: 7x35 roofs, good resolution, fairly good against the light, fairly good contrast, 7° field, a bit heavy.

One was to be a windowsill binocular and the other was destined for the glove compartment, but then I began to have doubts. Given the winter weather in Scotland, it may not make sense to leave non-waterproof binoculars in the car, except in the summer months.

Is it conceivable to keep either of these in the car all year round, wrapped in plastic, say? If not, what would you recommend in the way of a cheap, eBayable pair, that would fit the purpose?

Michael.

Leupold Yosemite 6x30s are good...as well as Bushell Custom Compact 7x26( think thats the format) Nikon Prostaffs 8x25 and 10x25 (Tero will tell you more on these)
etc..

I would not worry about the waterproofness too much. If you leave two cheap pairs, one will survive. Extreme heat in the car is another matter, rough an all binoculars.
