Sorry for the double post. I posted this in the "Others" Forum, not realizing there was a general Binoculars Forum.
I am currently looking for a pair of good, but cheap ($100-$200) Porro binoculars. I will be using it for viewing in forests, at the shore, and possibly hiking in the mountains. I am not looking for birding bins, per se, but they will be used in that role. I am limiting my budget a) because my 9 year old daughter will be sharing these with me and b) my better half will kill me if she saw the price tag on something with a German or Polish name. Do research here and elsewhere on the web, it seems that the Bushnell Legend 8x42 and Nikon Action Extreme 8x40 fit the bill. Are there any others I should consider? Also, what are some good U.S. on-line stores to purchase from. Thanks for the help!
Nikon 7X35 extreme recommended by Cornell...
I see one at auction:

The Action extreme eye cups are large, not perhaps ideal for the 9 yr old, so regular Actions may work, or Leupold 6x30 or 8x30 yet to be seen.
