One thing I like about my grand dads old porro is its big DOF, wich I found out is an important stressfactor for me, or if the other way around: easefactor if you will. And yes it is a 7x(35). I a smooth focus knob plays a part as well.
Are there any 8x out there known for a particular or relatively greater depth of field than "normal"?
Plus, does all 7x have "greater" dof? How is the Bushnell/Bauch & Lomb 7x26?

Depth of field is dependant on magnification, focussed distance and the accommodation of your own eyes. If the last two are non variables then it is inversely proportional to the square of the magnification, i.e. a 7x bin would have approximately twice the DOF of a 10x bin.

The only 8x bin which I have run into with an extraordinary high depth of field is the Leupold Cascade porro. Other than some of the 7x35 porros and 7x42 roofs I don't think there is anything that compares to it.
I am not sure how easy it is to get Leupold on your side of the pond but, if I am not mistaken Opticron makes an internal focus porro which is identical to the Leupold Cascade porro. You might want to look into that one in particular.
