Hawke Black Watch vs Nikon Action

I am intersted in buying a cheap pair of bins for viewing at home and taking on holiday.I quite like the look of these two and don't really want to spend more than 100 quid.

I have a pair of swaros EL 8.5x42 but don't really fancy taking the chance of them becoming damaged or lost in transit with those clumsy baggage handlers. Hence a cheap pair. Wilkinsons are avertising the Hawkes at 89.99 and the Nikons at 74.99 WHE also have the Nikons for 49.99.

My question is this really, how good are they for the money or is there any alernatives?

Does anyone have any experience of these? if so please post your thoughts. They would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

8x Action is good. I like the EX eye cups a bit better, but they are still not as comfortable as most roof prisms. Try both EX and regular Action if you can. EX are water proof, but heavier for baggage.

On the other hand, nearly all 8x major brand porros are OK, but I prefer Nikon over Pentax. Your other one have not seen.

How much is it to insure the EL, for theft etc?

Take the EL as hand luggage. What's the point of having a good binocular if you don't use it? Use the $100 that you save by not buying a pair of cheap binoculars for a good birding day and a bottle of good vino.
