Cameras and Lenses

Help please :)

Hi all,

So - Ive posted this today as Im looking for some advice. Firstly, I live in Ontario and hike trails quite a bit with my border collies. I find myself interested in a pair or binocular for general observation both day and evening and night. Im not really into birding but I have never tried it - so who knows. If I do see any interesting wildlife while hiking I would like to enjoy crystal clear images and great colors. I like looking onto horizons and mountains. Ill be visiting BC next month and then Europe. I also shoot photos quite a bit and I understand basic imaging principles. I use night time driving glasses - VERY weak prescription.

Heres the thing - Im not the type of person that likes to buy twice. Id rather spend more the first time and get the right product quality than buy 5 times because of a lack of initial research.

My question to you all:

I have 1000.00 to spend on a pair of binoculars to keep with me rain, shine, cold, hot, and traveling. Id like them to be able to fit in a large jacket pocket or small shoulder case.

Whats the right product? I visited a local sports shop and was overwhelmed with the variety of products. If you could go back in time and buy one pair of binoculars that you could not change throughout your life - which would it be?

Happy holidays!

Me,

Considering you price range and size preferences then I would suggest either the Meopta Meostar 8x32 or Pentax DCF ED 8x32. Both are fairly compact, have excellent image quality in just about every area and certainly fit within your budget.

Thanks frank. It's funny I visited a couple of stores and each one told me to buy Swarovski product if I want the best. If I want second best choose Leica. Then a pair that was out of my range by canon that offer the same L series optics I photograph with. None of them even mentioned Pentax and the other brand you mentioned I haven't heard of. Is there product support for them in Canada? I'll have to take a look.

Product support of very important to me. It's one of the reason that I try to buy by recommendation and positive reference.

Thanks
