Have just taken delivery of a used pair of Zeiss Victory 8x20s bought from 'a well known auction site' and they just won't focus properly...
Not sure what the proper term is (collimintion?) but it feels like the two images are not aligned properly...
Getting a crisp image from each barrel individually, but not when viewing both toghether. Diopter adjustment alters the focus but doesn't alter the 'misalignment'.
Any idea what might be going on? Can anything be done to correct... or shouls I attempt to get a refund.
I should say they were listed as "lenses are clear and scratch free" and price paid (£300) doesn't suggets anything 'iffy'.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks.

I can't help with the solution, I'm afraid, but did they come with a transferred warranty? Perhaps you could get them professionally inspected/corrected with Ziess?
Good luck

Hi blues,
As you say, your glass is miscollimated, which you can easily confirm by looking through the glass with first one eye closed, then the other. The image you see will shift, because each barrel of the glass is pointing somewhere slightly different. Fixing this is a professional job unfortunately, so expect to pay a chunk, probably closer to 100 pounds, for the service.
Do note Zeiss has a pretty decent warranty service and perhaps they will do the job at no cost, but I'm not sure the warranty is carried over to a secondary buyer. There are excellent private repair shops in the UK as well, other threads in this forum give specifics.
Best of luck, the little Victories are said to be a fine bit of kit, well worth fixing.
