High-power bins (12x50? Bigger?)

I have some 8x32 binoculars (and a scope) which will remain my choice for general birding, but I'm wondering about buying a pair of high-power bins for use in hides or anywhere else I can be sure of a steady hand.

I'd be very grateful to hear any opinions about any 12x50 models which you may have used. I've noticed that Nikon's 12x50 SE are a reasonable price compared to Leica BN's, but I haven't heard anyone raving about them the same way as they do about the 8x32 SEs. Maybe that's just because 12x50 is an unusual choice for birding.

Many thanks for any suggestions or comments.

I have only tried 12x25. It was useable. If I can, at most times, hold my 10x steady, I can hold the same size and weight 12x.

Most people are not too happy holding these.

I have even tried out 16x50, but why not get the lightest scope at that point?

Thanks for that. I do have a scope which is fantastic (62mm APO), and I spend a lot of time using it with the 16x eyepiece on, but I much prefer to use bins where I can; the comfort of having both eyes focussed on the subject and the stereo image make them much more easy to use over long periods.
