Cameras and Lenses

I need your help!

I have never used anything but low-end binoculars that you pre-focused each barrel while blocking the objective lenses. I have never used a click-stop diopter before. Could someone give easy-to-follow directions on how to get my binoculars set up for me?

They are Celestron Regal LS 8x42 roofs.

Thanks!

From my memory of advertisements, these binoculars are pretty standard in their adjustments. If this is correct, then the standard approach should work:
1. Spread or contract the width between barrels until the view is "comfortable" to your eyes. You will know when this happens.
2. On the barrel side that is NOT controlled by the diopter adjustment, and only controlled by the central focuser, focus on a distant object with the central focuser. You should block the light in the other barrel or close that other eye.
3. With the other barrel side (the one that IS controlled by the diopter adjustment), focus on that same distant object with that corresponding eye and using only the diopter adjustment. That adjustment setting is appropriate for that eye.
4. After that, the binocular is set for your eyes, and you should only need to focus thereafter using only the central focuser.
The above sounds much more complicated than it really is. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it immediately.
I hope this meets your needs.
If not, please ask again.
Good luck.

Got it! Thanks so much for your clear instructions.
