I'm after a pair of binoculars to supplement my current collection of 8.5 x 44 Swifts, Opticron scope, Zeiss monocular and 10 x 32 & 8 x 20 HG Nikons. I want something suitable for dawn/dusk use (or for use in dark and damp woods. Close focus and light weight would be nice but not essential. A typical use would be following a barn owl at dusk. Although I find the Nikon 10 x 32 great for birds sitting in a tree they are not so good for following a bird in flight as the image does not seem to snap into focus.
I guess I want advice on bins between 8 x 42 - 7 x 50 that are robustly built yet lightweight (am I asking for too much?). I'm not into brand loyalty, I had enough of that with all the Nikon v Canon nonsense on the photo forums. I was a television cameraman so I do appreciate, and am willing to pay for, good optics.
thanks in advance
Bob.
