I am kicking around the idea of picking up an inexpensive porro prism binocular as a backup bin and a loaner for family members on various excursions. The two bins I am considering are the Bushnell Legend 8x42 and the Celestron Ultima DX 8x32. Both have similar specs....
429 foot field of view
29 ounce or so weight
15-16 mm of eye relief
waterproof
modern eyecups
price around $120
Thoughts on either of these? I know the Legend porros are sort of a well kept secret for that price point. The Ultima DXs in that configuration always peaked my interest. Any others I am missing with a similar configuration/specs and in this price range?
All comments appreciated.
Thank you.
Why not the Leupold 8 x 30 Yosemite's? Same price. More compact and alot lighter in weight. 3 different colors. (To match your outfit
) Kids can use them easily. 390 feet FOV. 6 x 30 has 420 feet. Very well made and attractive too.

Hi Frank,
Eagle Optics makes the Nikon Action Extreme 8 x 40 ATB its staff pick in this price range. Very similar specs to what you have listed. These were discussed, and favorably reviewed, in a recent thread in the Nikon forum.
