Cameras and Lenses

Karl Voightt 7 x 50

My father has a pair and we know next to nothing about them. Anyone out there know the country of origin, history etc. of this brand? I am starting to think it is a knock-off, despite the fact that it is at least 45 years old, as there is almost no info. on this brand online.

Thanks for any help!

I'm not 100% certain but suspect they are Japanese in origin, they had a habit of making binoculars with 'European'-type names, though some of them are quite good.

Had a look through a pair of 'Mark Scheffel' 10x50 binoculars in a charity shop today they are of a similar ilk, European/German brand name but of Japanese origin - they were surprisingly good and clear - apart from being out of collimation!

106 views and still nothing definitive [!], although thanks to Sammyboy for his input.

Either these are really rare or they are a one-of-a-kind knock-off, the likes of which even the grizzled veterans of birdforum have never seen.

They were costly when bought new, are optically very good despite the narrow FOV and seem well built.
