Lense/focus problem

After sat in my garden for 10 minutes trying to calibrate my binoculars and failing miserably, I noticed that when I looked in the wrong end of them the lenses moved inwards on their own. I then tipped them up the other way and the lenses moved back out again. Obviously there is something wrong with the adjustment wheel and it is perhaps not connected to the lense adjustment anymore. Is there any way of fixing this problem?

They are not expensive. From Aldi or Lidl and 12x32 but they were very handy for sitting in the garden birdwatching.

Any help would be welcome. Don't be scared to tell me if I should bin them. I just fancied trying to fix them.

Hi,

I'm honestly not going to hold out much hope of success. It's something I wouldn't try to do myself if it's a decent pair as it's an expert job getting everything realigned. There is a good chance that they are glued together, and even if you can get inside the chance of finding anything repairable in a really cheap pair I suspect is slim. By all means have a go, I'm sure you would find it interesting. Just remember to recycle the bits .

If you do decide to replace them can I suggest that a lower powered pair like an 8x will give you a wider, brighter, more stable and enjoyable view. The members here will be happy to offer recommendations but Aldi/Liddle prices are hard to match.

Good luck,

David

Thanks David. I think I will probably replace them although I may have a tinker inside them just out of curiosity!!!
