Hello, this is my first post here and I am just learning the world of optics.
I would really like some help picking out my first set of binoculrs.
So, far I have decided on somthing in the middle price range. I need decent eye relief, sharp optics with good contrast and brightness. I realize I'm not going to get the very best optics such as a leica or zeiss.
What I have looked at (on the internet) in my price range goes as follows:
minox 8x32br alt lenses
Pentax dcf sp 8x32
docter 8x42
minox 7x42 br alt lenses
zeiss conquest 8x30
Those are the models that I have either read or heard are the best in my price range. I don't have any stores in my area to which try these bins out before I buy so, input from everyone is most welcome.
I'm leaning towards the minox 8x32br but, all are contenders. Other brands and models are welcome.
thank you,
Michigan
I have experience with the Pentax and the Zeiss. Both offer excellent optics in an ergonomic, fairly compact package. The Zeiss eye relief is average. I believe it is listed at 15 mm but think it might be a bit longer. Just out of curiousity, what is your price range?
My price range is around $500 maximum. I would rather not spend money just to spend money. I am 25 years old and I have never owned, even a decent binocular, only the $20 compacts. I really am looking for the best glass I can afford that will (with any luck) last for the rest of my days and ,if I ever have children, can be passed down. Could I be asking to much? This is alot of money for bins for me, I just want the best I can afford.
