Minox vs Nikon SE

Hello,
I am interested in buying a new and lightweight pair of binoculars and I am considering the Nikon 8x32SE, of which I read excellent reviews. The only drawback is the lack of waterproofing. For this reason I am also considering the new Minox 8x44 porro, which is waterproof. I was not able to find much information about the new Minox porros. Has anybody used them, and if so how do they compare to the Nikon SE?
Thanks,
Alfredo

The Nikon SE is not waterproof, but it is very well built and sealed and i had mine rained on several times without problems.
I have never looked through a Minox porro.
Here are a few things to consider: it is unlikely that the Minox binocular would equal or surpass the SE in terms of optical performance. The SE will have a field of view significantly wider, among other things. The Minox will have the "looking through a pipe" feeling to it, because of the small apparent field of view. However, the SE does not suit and fit everyone, and make sure that you can return it if you don't like it. If you buy it, that is.
Can you try them both, maybe side by side, before buying?

What about the new lightweight Minox roof prism jobbies? My other half has the 8x42 version, and they are a cracking pair of bins. There are also available in 8x32 as well
