Given all the fun in the thread 'Most over-rated features..' here's the other side of the coin. What attributes are often overlooked or under-valued ?
Top of my list is viewing comfort; that inexplicable thing when the view is easy and comfortable even though it may be less sharp or contrasty compared to a 'better' binocular.
Any thoughts ?
To me image sharpness and clarity. I hear about roof prism, weight, color brightness etc. but sharpness of image is real important to me.
When its raining I've often thought that binoculars with built-in lens hoods like you find on telescopes would come in handy. I've seen birders with home-made lens hoods made from plastic so I'm sure they would be a useful addition.
