Hi all.
Been on the internet for past two days googling Binoculars (havent been in the hobby long enough to call them 'bins'), and I still need some help!!
First off I wear glasses, think I want to go for 8 x 42 (or a little bit less say 32??). The binoculars that I have been looking at are from: Opticron, Bushnell. But within those there are quite alot to choose from by model, I suppose wearing glasses I should find a pair with good 'eye relief'!! How do I go on from here??? At a push I could go to £150.
Appreciate your time and knowledge.
Terry
Hi Barnet,
A waterproof porro glass would be good choice that works with glasses and fits your budget. The Nikon Action Extreme
or the Leupold Yosemite are two candidates that are often mentioned on this blog., priced in the 100 pound range.
Roof prism design glasses with comparable optical performance will cost materially more, although there are now some offerings from China, notably Zen Ray, that offer excellent optics for a couple of hundred pounds and up.
Bushnell and Opticron are well known names in this sector, serving the low to mid range afaik.
Terry:
I think this is good advice coming from etudient, I have had experience with the Nikon EX
and the Leupold Yosemite, and find them to be a very good value in your price range.
You will find the porro prism binoculars in this price range to be your best optics value.
Both of these have twist up eyecups, so I am thinking they will fit you.
It is always a good idea to try before you buy, if you can.
