Hi all -
my Vortex Vipers met their doom yesterday and are FUBARed. The cost of shipping them across the worlld for repairs/replacement isnt really worth it and so I am considering a new pair of binos.
Am trying to decide between the following 3 8x42 configs:
- Nikon LX-L
- Promaster Elite ELX
- Stokes DLS
All are in the $500-700 range. Any recommendations? Normally, I'd get the LXL-Ls in a heartbeat but my only concern is their somewhat lower FOV - 360ft vs 390 or so for the others.
TIA,
Vandit
The Stokes will be virtually the same as the Viper. Promaster only problem so far is a stiff focus knob in below freezing temperatures.
Interesting question as I was looking at almost the same choice in 10X but just between the Stokes and Promaster as they are about the same price now. I always thought the Stokes were supposed to be closer to the Razor just with a faster focus. Two of three knowledgeable opinions I've gotten indicate the Promaster is slightly ahead of the Stokes with one vote the other way.
I'm thinking its time to save my nickels and wait for a Leica.
