Hi All :)
I am going to buy the first birding bins.
In my territories there is no wide range of models, and to buy from abroad to me difficultly because of insufficient development of bank services in my country :(
Therefore I have decided to buy that it is possible to order in my country.
To me has seemed a good choice Olympus EXPS 8x42. Here it can be ordered for 125-130$. I have thought, that this bins will be good for supervision of birds in a wood and stars in the sky.
Anyone can tell, whether my choice is good?
here is some links on this bins

They're not quite the same but I have a pair of Olympus DPS-R 8x40s, which I think were the predecessor to the model you're talking about.
They are an excellent pair of binoculars, nice bright image, very sharp and clear, and I've found them great for stargazing, perhaps a tiny bit heavy for birding use but not too bad. The should also have an excellent field of view (my DPS's have a field of view of 8.2 degrees!) A good quality binocular that seems to have been largely overlooked and under-estimated in my opinion.
