Opinions, advice... please.

Hello,
I'm attempting to find a pair of binoculars for my boyfriend. He is going to begin his MS next year doing work with songbirds. In addition, he's a avid bird watcher. So, I'd like to get him his first pair of binoculars (that aren't borrowed). My budget is around 200 (willing to go up a little). I've been looking around but am not sure of the quality of these three binoculars. They have good reviews, but I'd like more birding opinions.

Here they are:

I welcome any other suggestions. I don't bird so I appreciate any help! Thanks!

Check out the Bushnell Legend and or the Legend HD. Both are nice and should hit your price point.

Welcome to the Birdforum, and you will get some good advice with your question.
You are generous to offer one as a gift, but I am thinking the user should get a chance
to try one out before making the purchase. I will recommend the Nikon Monarch,
a very popular choice, and would work very well.
If you don't mind, try to find time for both of you to go to a sporting goods store to try some out, as personal preference is very important. And if these are to be used often
with grad. studies, that does matter.

Jerry
