Hi everyone,
I have been looking on line at Opticron's BGA SE 7x42 and BGA Classic 7x36.
Their specs are so similar that I am wondering why Opticron have them both in their line up.
Specs are:
BGA SE/ BGA Classic/ Swift Eaglet
Field (m) 122 / 126 / 124
Min Focus (m/1000m) 2 / 2 / 1.8
Eyerelief (mm) 24 / 19 / 16
IPD (mm) 58-74 / 57-77 /
HxW (mm) 133x121 138x128 125x125
Weight (g) 657 / 623 / 684
Price £ approx 350 / 370 /
Does anyone know if they differ much optically? Has anyone tried them side by side?
With such a lack of low to mid price 7x bins here in the UK and as I'm not willing to risk wasting mail costs on the ZR ED2, these two are interesting. Not as wide field as I'd like (9.3 degrees would be nice) but interesting.
I've never noticed them in any shops to try out.
Anyone got any thoughts?
Best wishes
Martin
A thought that occurred to me last night-
the BGA Classic 7x36 are very like the Swift Eaglet 7x36
I have edited the specs above to show them too.

Interesting catch. They both look rather like the Swift Eaglet and have very similar specs (the Eaglet I think is speced at 7.1 degrees FOV) though the focus appears to be slower (the Eaglet has faster focus).
