What is the proper technique to hold binoculars to your eyes? I wear glasses and feel most comfortable with the tops of the barrels touching my brow and not actually having my glasses touch the binos.
Also, I have pop-up eye cups and thought with glasses I should have them all the way in. When I do this, I see too much black at the edges of the view and have to move them around so much to get it to clear. They seem to work best about a third of the way popped up, but I realize I lose some of my FOV. Is it simply a case of do what works best for my eyes??
More expensize binoculars tend to have stops in the eyecups to help set them at an intermediate distance. Without them I have heard a rubber band is a good way to hold the cups out far enough. Too much eye relief is just as bad as not enough.
On the subject of hold, I too like to place the top of the eyecup right onto the bottom of mr brow, but also against my glasses. The angle of my eyeglass lenses make me keep my head down a bit and look through the top half of the lenses. There really is no proper way, just what works for you.
