Question for Binocular Repair Professionals...

Greetings!

I know there are a few binocular service/repair professionals who frequent this forum... I have a quick question for you.

What, in your experience, is the most problem-free / reliable / mechanically-sound roof prism binocular on the market?

If I wanted to buy a roof prism binocular that had the best chance of outlasting me, my children, my grandchildren, etc. under heavy/extreme use... what would you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance, and best wishes!
Bawko

Bawko: A repair shop sees 50 Alpha binoculars for repair in 2004. The same shop sees only 10 Omega binoculars for repair in 2004. Are Alpha binoculars five times more likely to cause trouble than Omegas? No! Those 50 Alphas represent only 5% of the 1000 units sold, while the 10 Omegas are 10% of 100 units sold. Alphas come to the repair shop much more frequently because there are lot more Alphas out there than Omegas, even though Alphas are only half as likely to have problems. Does the repair shop have access to sales figures for different brands? I don't know, but they need those numbers to provide any statistically meaningful estimate of reliability.

Curtis,

My question is directed more toward the build quality of the binoculars, something that the repair personel would have more experience with than the consumers... who only see the outside of the binoculars.

Best wishes,
Bawko
