I am new to birding. I have two pairs of pretty good binoculars - a Bausch & Lomb 7x26 Custom and a Nikon 8x20 Premium LX. I find the Nikon to be better optically, but the B&L is less fiddly.
I understand that as light levels drop, a binocular with a larger objective lens will be more useful, so I am thinking about buying an 8x42. However, my budget in the short term is $300 or less, and I am not sure I can really improve on what I have now for that price.
Is there anything in my price range that's worth considering? If not, how much will I need to spend eventually to get a tangible improvement over my current gear?
Thanks,
Jeff
Though the Nikon's are proven high quality you could look into Zen Rays http://www.cameralandny.com/demos-zenray.html Right in your price range and VERY hard to beat. There are, however, continuous updates to the optics industry and someone may be more up to date on "bang for the buck".
