Cameras and Lenses

shows or fairs to go to please

I hope to go to the Newbury Show in Berkshire this year as it is only 40 miles from me, went two years ago, great compact show easily done in a day. did not see any binocular sellers as far as I can recall. The Royal Internayional Air Tattoo at Fairford had dozens of binocular sellers, all selling bins for £20 or so with a suggested retail price of £100. These bins had various tints from orange, blue and yellow and when used completely changed the colours of what you had been looking at with the naked eye.

What Shows, Fairs or Events would anyone recommend that would be worth going to and where I might get to try several makes of good quality binoculars and maybe get a good deal?

Ideally the show would be within 100 miles or so of High Wycombe in Bucks.

cheers

Watch out for 'birdfairs' - maybe one coming up at Slimbridge in February?

Several of the larger and more popular reserves have extensive ranges of binoculars and the facilities to try them out. Or In Focus have shops scattered around the country.

That was qwik Steve. I visited Slimbridge 28 December and he had a nice pair of used Nikon bins but at £399 too much for me, also a suggestion that they were to much after seeking advice here. Also tried a nice pair of older Opticron bins at Barnes in September. Maybe I should have ahd them, quite nice and much better than my current Opticron Discovery bins.

Still looking but hope that at a show there may be a bargain with my name on it.
