Seeing other brands with service threads, thought I'd supply feedback on my experience with Steiner.
Two pairs of 10x44 (XP/Discovery), during 2011 one developed a minor fault with the glue of the outward moving ocular part (still usable, but potentially could come off and be lost), the other suffered a tug from my daughter and one strap-end came dislodged from the body and was unsecure.
I waited until a quiet birding time of the year and then wrote to Steiner in Germany. 24 hour response, they said take them back to the dealer who would decide what was needed.
I did; no fuss from infocus, who took them in and said repair staff would look at them and let me know.
Altogether it took about a month as expected (would have been shorter but the infocus repair staff were on holiday for a few days); I had one email from infocus regarding their decision to send bins to Germany, and one from Steiner to say repairs effected and bins on way back to UK.
They arrived back in the post perfectly packed for protection.
Everything one would expect for an alpha bin![]()

You were lucky!
Nothing to do with In Focus but if I told you my Steiner story you would burst into tears.
