swift 828, alpen apex or carson hd's?

hello.
i just recently found this site while searching for bino information and am amazed with the insight and knowledge the members have and share. i am looking for a bino that falls in the $300-$450 range for general/hunting purpose. i think that an 8X is the way to go based on reading this and other message boards. i have never had a decent pair of binos, so this next pair of binos i hope are my last i have had the chance to compare a set of trophys to the monarchs. i would like to find a pair that are an upgrade to the monarchs that fall in my price range. from doing a little research, i am led to believe that these would fit that bill.
can someone please comment on these or any others that you feel would meet my criteria

Alpen has been rated well by Optics Planet staff, which you may know. You are not going to get much feedback on Carsons. For people moving up from Monarchs, they usually look at Vortex, high end Pentax, Nikon LX. Maybe also Bushnell high end. If they do not want to spend the money for the BIG THREE.
