Just got my "final" pair of binoculars which are in nearly perfect condition excepting a loose hinge. There is no slop or wiggle it just moves much to easy for my taste. Is there any way to tighten this or do I wedge something in there and be stuck with non-adjustable IPD? If possible I'd prefer to do it here instead of sending them out.... Help?!
Oh, they're a set of Doctor 15x60's!!
Thanks,
Paul
No offense intended, but if you don't know enough to deal with this issue, the better part of wisdom would be to send them to someone who does. If they are new, the manufacturer. If they are previously owned, a good repairman like Nicolas Crista http://www.nrcoptics.com/. He's very good and moderately priced.

Paul,
I'd do what Ed recommends, since there's a repair shop in your general area.
Not recommending it, but just for the general information:
1)take the cap off whichever end of the axle the adjustment for the particular model is on.
2)loosen the set screw or "grub screw" which holds the adjustment locked in place, once it is made. This will often require a tiny allen wrench or screwdriver.
3)adjust the tension, which will usually require a larger allen wrench or screwdriver.
4)tighten the grub screw back down, and replace the axle cap.
More specific instructions for the particular model would be a great advantage, especially if you have never done such a thing. It's easy to mess tiny screws up, trying on allen wrenches.
But mainly I want to say, wowee, you did good! I just bought a new Docter Nobilem 15x60 myself, and the optics is really excellent. Maybe it's partly new toy syndrome, but in fact I find the optics amazing. A 15x60 as sharp and clear as an 8x30!? I wouldn't have believed it. But it's true. Super duper star images, birds, everything. I hope you enjoy yours too. Now, don't mess it up!
