Hi
Is there a BIG difference between a 8x42 and a 8x32. Want to go up to Cley etc in Norfolk.
TC
Hi Terry,
The x42 will allow more light to come into your bins so you can use them in low light i.e. when it's dull, in woods etc and eary or late in the day. A good quality pair of bins will have little difference but those will be at a cost. If you are buying a pair of mid price bins, go for the 8x42's.
If you going to Cley-spy don't worry they will give you good advice and let you try as many bins as you need, as will or should any good optic retailer.
Hope you find what you need and enjoy some good birding and their are some great birds in the Cley area at the moment.
All the best Nigel

No--not in terms of brightness, which I assume is what you are asking. And there's even less of a difference as people age--at least in terms of brightness. See here: http://www.birdwatching.com/optics/...5_agingeye.html But if you are young, there would be more of a reason to consider 8x42. Also see the blue box on this page comparing 8x32 and 8x42 swaro EL's: http://www.birdwatching.com/optics/...ski_el32mm.html
Best,
